Biscuits and Gravy Breakfast Casserole

Biscuits and Gravy breakfast casserole baked with sausage and cheddar cheese

A warm and hearty Biscuits and Gravy breakfast bake layered with tender biscuit pieces, savory sausage, creamy gravy, eggs, and cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg biscuits, 8 count
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 pkg peppered gravy mix, 2.3 oz package
  • 1 lb sausage
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Coat a 9×13 baking dish with grease and heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Brown the sausage in a skillet until fully cooked, then pour off any extra grease.
  3. Slice each biscuit into small chunks, making about 4 pieces from each biscuit.
  4. Scatter the biscuit pieces evenly across the bottom of the prepared pan.
  5. Spoon the cooked sausage over the biscuit layer.
  6. Add the shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage.
  7. Whisk the eggs and milk together in a small bowl, then season with salt and pepper as desired.
  8. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the cheese.
  9. Make the peppered gravy using the package directions, then pour it over the casserole.
  10. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until the biscuits and eggs are fully set.
  11. Let the casserole come out of the oven warm and serve while cozy and fresh.

Notes

  • For make-ahead prep, assemble the casserole, cover it well, and refrigerate before baking.
  • A chilled casserole may need extra oven time, so check the center before serving.
  • If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover the pan with foil while it finishes baking.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze cooked leftovers in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
