French Toast Roll-Ups Recipe

Golden French Toast Roll-Ups served warm with syrup on a breakfast plate

French Toast Roll-Ups wrap tender bread around savory sausage, then cook in a cinnamon-vanilla egg coating until golden and cozy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 slices bread
  • 10 fully cooked sausage links
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 Tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • Butter, for greasing the pan

Instructions

  1. Press each bread slice flat with a rolling pin or clean hands. Trim off the crusts, if you like a softer edge.
  2. Lay one sausage link along the lower edge of each bread slice, then roll the bread snugly around it.
  3. Whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and flour in a shallow bowl until the batter looks smooth.
  4. Warm a skillet or griddle over medium heat, then coat the surface with butter.
  5. Dip each sausage roll in the egg mixture, turning lightly so every side gets coated.
  6. Place the dipped rolls on the hot cooking surface.
  7. Cook for several minutes, rotating gently, until the outside is golden on all sides.
  8. Serve warm with maple syrup for dipping.

Notes

  • The egg batter may be mixed up to 1 day before cooking and kept covered in the refrigerator.
  • Store cooked leftovers in an airtight container for 1-2 days.
  • Reheat leftovers in the microwave, toaster oven, skillet, or air fryer.
  • For freezing, pack cooled roll-ups in a freezer-safe container or bag, pressing out extra air before sealing.
