Cold Brew Coffee That Tastes Smooth and Café-Worthy

Glass of Cold Brew Coffee served over ice with a smooth, rich finish

Cold Brew Coffee is a smooth, chilled coffee drink made by steeping coffee grounds in cool water for hours, creating a rich flavor with a mellow finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup coffee beans, ground to a medium-coarse consistency
  • 4 cups filtered water

Instructions

  1. Grind the coffee beans until they resemble the texture commonly used for French press brewing.
  2. Transfer the ground coffee into the filter basket of a cold brew pitcher or brewer.
  3. Slowly add the filtered water, making sure all of the grounds are evenly saturated.
  4. Cover the container and place it in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours.
  5. Lift out the filter containing the grounds and discard them.
  6. Pour the brewed coffee over ice and serve.
  7. If desired, add milk, half-and-half, or a sweetener before enjoying.

Notes

  • If using store-bought ground coffee instead of freshly grinding beans, shorten the refrigeration time to about 8 hours.
  • This recipe produces ready-to-drink coffee and does not require dilution before serving.
  • Keep the finished coffee refrigerated and serve chilled over ice.
