- 1 cup coffee beans, ground to a medium-coarse consistency
- 4 cups filtered water
- Grind the coffee beans until they resemble the texture commonly used for French press brewing.
- Transfer the ground coffee into the filter basket of a cold brew pitcher or brewer.
- Slowly add the filtered water, making sure all of the grounds are evenly saturated.
- Cover the container and place it in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours.
- Lift out the filter containing the grounds and discard them.
- Pour the brewed coffee over ice and serve.
- If desired, add milk, half-and-half, or a sweetener before enjoying.
Notes
- If using store-bought ground coffee instead of freshly grinding beans, shorten the refrigeration time to about 8 hours.
- This recipe produces ready-to-drink coffee and does not require dilution before serving.
- Keep the finished coffee refrigerated and serve chilled over ice.
