Salisbury Steak Meatballs in the Slow Cooker

Salisbury Steak Meatballs

Salisbury Steak Meatballs simmer slowly in a savory brown gravy for a comforting, low-effort dinner that pairs beautifully with mashed potatoes or egg noodles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag (26 ounces) fully cooked frozen meatballs, approximately 30 to 35 meatballs
  • 2 cups reduced-sodium beef broth
  • 1 packet dry brown gravy seasoning
  • 1 packet dry onion soup seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. Coat the inside of the slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Place the meatballs in the slow cooker while they are still frozen.
  3. Whisk the beef broth, brown gravy seasoning, onion soup seasoning, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl until evenly blended.
  4. Pour the broth mixture over the meatballs, then stir gently to distribute the sauce.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours.
  6. Blend the cornstarch with the cold water in a small bowl until no lumps remain.
  7. Stir the slurry into the hot gravy. Cover and continue cooking for 10 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
  8. Spoon the meatballs and gravy over mashed potatoes or egg noodles. Add chopped parsley as an optional garnish.

Notes

  • Choose any preferred frozen meatball variety. Use 26 ounces, or approximately 30 to 35 meatballs. Homestyle, Italian-style, and turkey meatballs are all suitable.
  • Keep the meatballs frozen when adding them to the slow cooker; thawing is unnecessary.
  • Reduced-sodium beef broth helps balance the salt in the two seasoning packets. A reduced-sodium gravy packet may be used to lower it further.
  • For a thicker gravy, use 2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water. For a thinner, pourable gravy, use 1 tablespoon of each.
