- 4 cups vanilla pudding, prepared instant pudding is fine
- 3–4 cups whipped cream, preferably freshly made
- 2–3 cups cubed cake, about one 9×13 cake
- 1 cup blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries
- 2 cups sliced strawberries
- Optional: extra berries, as desired
- Rinse the berries, pat them dry, and let them finish drying while you prepare the other layers.
- Cut the cake into bite-size cubes, whip the cream, and prepare the vanilla pudding.
- Spoon a layer of pudding into a medium bowl or trifle dish.
- Add cake cubes over the pudding so the cake can soften slightly.
- Layer in the berries and whipped cream.
- For a pretty edge, arrange berries and cake pieces neatly against the glass as you build the layers.
- Repeat the layers until everything is used, ending with whipped cream on top.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- Fresh whipped cream gives the dessert the lightest texture.
- Frozen berries can be used if they are thawed, drained, and patted dry first.
- Add more berries for extra color and fresh fruit flavor.
